Playdate

We had some friends over to play and feed the horse. After feeding the horse, Landon demanded we go for a walk so we all walked around the neighborhood.

6 moms and 11 kids in total.

Verbatim

"Landon, are you hungry?"

"No"

About 30 seconds later..."I'm hungry. I didn't know I was"

Dog interpreter

Landon likes to interpret for the dog on occasion. This time Cole wanted us to throw the toy.

Cookies

Landon baked a crate full of cookies

Then set the table for everyone who was joining us for cookie time.

Landon said..." I called Aunt Katie on my way home from work to come have cookies. Emma's coming. Emma's Daddy is coming also."

Outside

We've been able to play outside a lot lately. Oliver loves the freedom (I never saw that coming) and Landon rides his bike.

I forget why Landon was pouting
Landon's favorite "baby" lately has been baby rhino

A house for a ball

Landon wanted to build a house for his ball so we did.

Now the ball is safe

Snack time

It was quite a relaxed snack time

Open and Clothes

Did ya catch that in the title. No, oh. Well, I was trying to be clever at 7:30 on a Monday morning.

Oliver has learned to open and close a drawer/cabinet. He'll unload every drawer if he's not caught in time.
Although, he is super cute while trying to pull the drawer open. Pulling with all he's got!

At least he closes the drawer when he's done

Another Snow day

Oliver got the best Birthday present, it snowed. Not just a wimpy mere inch, this time it was at least 3! Inches that is.
The boys were very excited to get out and play in it. With the first flakes Landon squealed with excitement that he could build another Frosty.
Oliver got to play in the snow first while Landon napped. The joys of being a non-napper and it being your Birthday!
He wanted to fully experience the snow by eating it, too bad there wasn't enough at the time
 Figuring this stuff out
Then Landon woke up and we all got to play. Properly dressed this time.
Landon tried to eat the snow also, but got a little mulch on the first lick.
Cole has been cooped up far too long and really got crazy in the snow.
Making snow angels
Raking the snow
 Making a snowball
Ollie then got bored and wanted to go for a walk, so we went to see our favorite horse.
She wouldn't come across the creek to say hi today.
The next morning, we went out and played again. The snow however didn't pack well and couldn't build another frosty. Landon wasn't too sad, he got to eat icicles instead.

Later that day, we looked out the window and saw a random bare spot in the front yard.
The reason, the swarm of blackbirds pecking through the leaves.

The blackbirds are another neighborhood animal. We usually see them everyday.
In huge masses.
Alfred Hitchcock comes to mind every time.

The town shut down again.
Temperatures didn't get warm enough to get rid of the ice so the University had to shut down as well.
I was listening to NPR that morning and they were talking about how the state was running low on salt. I didn't even know they had salt trucks.
3 days of snow in a month and the salt supply goes low.

Birthday Party

Today we had friends over for a playdate/birthday party. Luckily all the moms I socialize with have kids about the same ages as Landon and Oliver.
The kids played, ate some fruit, pretzels, and cheese, played, ate cupcakes, and played more. They didn't have any interest in the homemade hotpockets I made for them. PB&J was all they desired. Easy to please. Hey, I'm not complaining. The moms enjoyed them.
Ollie got some great presents and has enjoyed playing with them this evening. Landon too.  Thanks girls!
Ollie was being very lovey today and snuggled with Miss Carmen and Miss Alisha on multiple occasions.  My favorite quote from Alisha was, "No wonder he's so heavy, he's full of love."

Here are some pictures from the day. While thinking about writing this post, I realized I didn't have any pictures of Oliver's friends and it was his party. Sorry little ones! I'll snap some of you next time.

I gave myself a tutorial and got some help from Craig on how to use Adobe Illustrator
and made the cupcake toppers. The icing is a new favorite recipe from a great friend and will NEVER buy it again. Well, maybe not never, only if...fill in the blank. I just need to perfect my icing skills. Anyone want some cupcakes so I can practice?
Oliver was happy he got to eat another cupcake

Thanks for having a birthday Ollie! We had a blast!

Happy First Birthday Oliver

Oliver's Birthday was a pretty low key day.
It was spent readying the house for the Birthday party which ended up getting pushed back a day because of the snow storm.
Oliver was READY to eat his cupcake and didn't want to mess around with us singing to him. He got upset that we put a cupcake in front of him but didn't let him eat it.
He was very sweet and even shared his cupcake
 Landon obviously loving it!

Happy Birthday Ollie!
