While trying to get Landon to sleep the other night...
Landon "Mom, I have a quick question."
Me "Ok"
Landon "How does the sun come up everyday?"
The next night.
Landon "Why does the moon come up"
Tonight after we got home from what seems to be our weekly trip to Lowes.
Landon "I need to shower, I stink from working on the chicken coop."
And he did. Shower that is. He didn't stink, nor did he work on the chicken coop. He had his first shower by himself. Well, Craig got in with him after about 2 minutes but Landon complained because Craig wasn't sharing the shower.

Tree Cutter
The power company had a machine driving through our neighborhood that looked like a crane or a lift, whatever you want to call it, with a circular saw at the end of it's boom. The boys were enthralled!
At one point it started driving closer to the house and I told Landon he couldn't sit on my lap anymore because I had to get Oliver and keep him safe, so Landon went and protected his brother! It was very sweet.

desk
Our previous neighbor, the crazy squirrel guy, gave us 3 old school desks before we left. I scrubbed the rust off and painted one of them so far. The second one needs a new seat and a new back rest so it will have to wait. The third one is bigger and is going to go in the den for playtime. Here's the one that is finished.
It is living in the kitchen and the boys love to eat snacks or breakfast or lunch there. I love it!

Early morning snail
Ollie was up extra early one morning and we found 2 snails on the front step while letting the dog out. We found them stuck together, I'm not sure if they were copulating but I apologized for disturbing them. This was after we had disturbed them and all their parts were mostly back in their shells.
Turtles, ducks, snails, birds...next on our list of things to be seen in our neighborhood is a snake. Our neighbor was telling us last night they saw a king snake burrow underground yesterday at the edge of our properties.

Drinking like a dog
*Disclaimer* You will notice that under him in these pictures is his cup. Clearly he is not neglected and not given a drink of his own.

Swing
The tree in our front yard came prepared with a set of ropes for a swing. The boys love it, well, Landon loves it, Ollie loves it if he's sitting on someone's lap while swinging.
Pretty sure the swing is only rated to 130 lbs. Umm...
Landon the trapeze artist.

Remodeling Blues
Ollie was playing the harmonica for us one night while Craig was working on the closet. He stole the headlamp from Craig after he put it down from working in the hall closet since there is no light in it.
The closet and other updates
Craig has been busy working on making our master bedroom a master. AKA a closet with a wide enough opening for 2 people in the year 2011!
Before (and of course I didn't get a picture) the closet had a very small, smaller than average, door. The closet itself was a decent size for how old the how is but it was not adequate for us. Luckily, Craig is handy like that!
There is a hallway closet just outside of our bedroom and the bedroom closet and the hall closet share a wall, so we knocked down the wall and made the hall closet smaller and our bedroom closet bigger.
Here's the work in progress.
The original bedroom closet was the green painted portion and Craig is in the hall closet. Small!
Here's is Craig's beautiful work!
The inside of the closet isn't finished as of picture posting so that will remain a surprise to you all.
We painted the bedroom because neither of us could stand the previous color.
We both love the color. The color choice was one of those decisions we had to make because we had both boys with us at the paint store and were acting up. What?! No way! Kids acting up in a store, unheard of. Anyway, it was a, sure that color looks good. Ok, let's buy it. Kind of decision.
Here are some pictures of the house now that it is being lived in.
Next up on the to do list. Shelves for the laundry room. It's current condition is quite sad and depressing. To get a load of clothes out of the washer I must first move whatever tools/painting supplies are covering the lid and then move whatever tools/dirty laundry/dog food bag/painting supplies are in front of the dryer to put the clothes in there.
One job at a time, we will be organized and loving life in the new house.

Pregnany Brain
Due to a lack of memory the lessons learned since living in MS will have to wait. I guess I really have a couple of things to blame it on, either the floor stain fumes that apparently still lurk but I have become immune to or it's being too busy to even remember if I fed the dog 3 hours ago. Poor dog.
He's been sorely neglected and he's not hiding his distaste for our "new" routine. Some days I think we should look for a new home for him because we just don't have the time to run off his energy. Then we have a morning of the kids chasing him through the house and they giggle with such joy and it reminds me of how great it is to grow up with a companion like that.
I keep thinking things will settle down soon, but I don't think they will. It's summer and there's a new baby coming in about 4 1/2 months. Things will never slow down.
Craig has been working on the closet in our bedroom. The project is haunting him. He is priming the walls as we speak. Hopefully in the next week I can post before and after pictures.

"Settled"
We've been in the new house for 9 days now. It seems like an eternity. We've been working non-stop on everything! Cleaning, unpacking, cleaning, building, organizing, painting, sewing, constructing...
Ollie has been successfully transitioned to the big bed of the bunk bed, with very little disturbance. There were no curtains covering the wicked sun in the mornings so Ollie has been waking at 6 sharp. Not exactly a welcome wake up time when I had been up till midnight busily at work the night before.
We are exhausted and sore.
Currently Craig is banging in what will be our bedroom, working on constructing our closet. He is learning a lot of new things about owning a house and making it ours!
Ropes for a tree swing were left by the previous owners and yesterday we hung that. It has a very loooooong arc. So far he's fallen off twice but keeps getting back up. The first time, totally his fault for letting go. Lesson learned. The second time, he was being spun around and tried to get off and fell FLAT on his face. Can somebody say dizzy kid!
We had the ultrasound for baby 3 last week (no, we didn't find out the sex) and Landon has been talking non-stop about the baby. Asking if babe is taking a nap or ate lunch in my belly. It's funny the difference in his awareness with Ollie's pregnancy and this one.
So the rice is cooking on the stove for stir fry and probably burnt by now since my hope of writing a blog post in 15 minutes turned into 30.
I've been thinking about all the things we've learned since living in MS and if I can remember half of what I've prewritten in my head that will be my next blog post.
A preview....Ticks. You never really know someone until you've checked every inch of their body for them.
