Last week, the injuries were numerous. More than one handful I'm sure. Landon was full of energy and jumping from couch to couch and missed one of his targets and hit his mouth on a wooden chest. Bloody lip and bloody gums. Oliver pulled a potted plant down off a shelf and got a cut right below his eyebrow. The exact spot he gashed about 6 months ago in the bathtub. Oliver likes to push the stroller on walks instead of riding and fell about 3 times on different days while running down the bumpy road. Skinned knees. Landon fell on the road as well and skinned the palms of his hands and his knees.
Tears were shed, band-aids applied when applicable, and all is on the mend.
I promised to take pictures this weekend at International Fiesta, I took the camera and as we were leaving I realized I never once took it out of my bag. Ugh! Sorry.
This weekend we went to a great tradition on MSU's campus. International Fiesta. It's a time for learning about different cultures and experiencing them through dance and food. The latter is my favorite of course. I was never one for experimenting with my meal choices but I feel like I've matured in my sense of wanting to try new food options and love this event. We sampled the Indian and Mediterranean food and hit up the Jewish stand for beverages more than once. We also found a stand with sno-cones, not as international as the rest of our food choices but it made the hot weather bearable. I would like to say that the entertainment was also great but I never got the chance to watch the performers. Landon was excited to watch the belly dancers, he remembered that from last year, he even tried dancing like them.
We socialized the entire time and the kids ran around on the grass and played with a lot of their friends. We even got introduced to an older couple that have lived here in Starkville for 20 years but lived in Wooster, OH and raised their kids there. What a small world. The man said he worked for OARDC (a branch of OSU agriculture research) and used to go to Buchwalter Greenhouse to take pictures of the flowers back in the day. Even smaller world. For those of you that don't know, my extended family owns that greenhouse. What a coincidence!
Saturday night Craig and I dropped the boys off at a friends house and we went out to dinner by ourselves. What a great thing to do. Peace and quiet for an hour and you can feed yourself without distraction or another mouth begging for food. We are grateful for friends who are willing to do this since we have no family close by to pawn our kids on for a night!
Oliver drank, literally, drank a cup of sand at the friends house while we were away at dinner. He subsequently vomited. Those are some really good friends!
Sunday we went to a friends 4th birthday party, this little boy was just adopted by a couple in Craig's department from Nepal. Diwas was fortunate enough to have a bounce house for his party! The kids thoroughly enjoyed it and some of the adults did as well. It was warm day and after the party had died down a bit, Landon and Diwas thought it would be a good idea to dip their heads in the icy water from the drink coolers. Both were sweaty from an afternoon of bouncing.
Landon's latest phase is pretending to be animals. Mostly a baby kitty or puppy. Then we all become our appropriate roles as well. He gets very upset if you do not call him by the correct animal name, baby puppy/kitty. Never Landon kitty/puppy.
That's the roundup, sorry for the lack of pictures but I do have some to share in my next post.
