2 Weeks of Christmas

We got to spend 2 weeks in Ohio for Christmas this year. It was a much needed vacation for both Craig and I. I won't bore you with the minute to minute details but the summarized version goes a little like this...the first week we were busy preparing for Landon's 3rd Birthday party and Christmas then the second week kicked off our apparent lack of immunity to Ohio diseases and we all got sick.
If you want to be entertained with more details then read on please...

We got to catch up with my Aunts, Uncles and Cousins at the Buchwalter Christmas party. Landon had a lot of fun playing with the other kids and learning to play Trouble and Uno.

A group photo of my Dad and family. Aunt Deb trying to do bunny ears on her much taller baby brother.

Landon's 3rd Birthday!
He got to sleep in until 10:30.
He also got to go ice fishing with Grandpa Steve and Daddy and had a blast out on the ice.

Landon chose the design of his cake, chocolate cake with M&M's.

Landon had a lot of help opening his presents and has enjoyed playing with all of them since. Craig got busy in his 'woodshop' this year and made Landon wooden toys, an airplane, a tank, bulldozer, and a helicopter.

Christmas Eve we went to the church service at the church I grew up in, I was particularly excited to show off the boys because I made them matching bow ties.
Nerd alert!

After church we followed tradition and opened Christmas ornaments and then got to spend time with my parents and sisters and their families. We tracked Santa on Norad and the kids had anticipation building! Landon left 4 cookies out for Santa and went happily to bed.
Christmas morning Landon was very happy to find that Santa got too full to eat all 4 cookies and left half of one for him.
Ollie of course didn't care much about the wrapped presents or the process of unwrapping them, luckily his big brother was there.

Landon's favorite toy was his red combine tractor. Just like Grandpa Don's he said.

The next day we transitioned from the Buchwalter house to the Grimes house. We went to church that morning for Baby Nigel's Baptism, Craig and I were asked to be Godparents. At the service Landon and the other Grimes boys went to the front for the children's message, the pastor was going to read them a book about the Christmas story. She got to the part about Jesus' birth in a manger and Landon felt it necessary to inform the pastor and the whole church that "Jesus is dead". The pastor acknowledged Landon's comment and confirmed that yes indeed he died but he also had to be born first, but Landon decided that she must not have heard him so he repeated himself, "Jesus is dead". At least it was a low attendance that day and almost half the church goers were family anyway.

Landon returned to sit with his embarrassed parents and about 10 minutes later Ollie vomited banana all over himself and somewhat on me. This event occurred about 5 minutes before the baptism was to take place and Craig and I would go stand in front of the church with Nigel and his parents. Thank goodness for Grandmas and that the service was being videotaped and playing on a tv in the nursery! I cleaned myself up and Grandma took care of Oliver and I raced back into the church just in time for the baptism.
Talk about a rough morning! Good news is that Nigel was baptized! The rest of the afternoon we celebrated Nigel's baptism and played with the Grimes cousins.
Little did I know that was just the start of the roughness. Sunday evening Ollie got sick again and got 2 baths. Then during the night Craig got sick!
Monday was spent being lazy!
Tuesday I got to leave the boys with Grandma and go dress shopping with Lisa, she's getting married in October and she asked me to be a Matron of Honor. This event marked the longest time spent away from Oliver, 6 whole hours! I had a lot of fun with Lisa and even got her to try on a silly dress that she described as lasagna.
Wednesday I got to take another trip away from Oliver except this time it was to the ER. Unfortunately I had mastitis, NOT fun! A shot of morphine in my iv, a bag of antibiotics and liquids to rehydrate me and we were on our way back to the Grimes.
Thursday was another lazy day!
Friday Oliver started running a fever, he also got to meet the baby lambs that were only a few days old.
Landon got to take a ride in the yellow rock picker with Grandpa Don.
Saturday Oliver was still running a fever and then Craig's brother's kids got sick.
We left that night.
Sunday we got back to Mississippi, Oliver slept most of the day and still had a fever.
Monday Oliver went to the doctor and was diagnosed with ear infections in both ears. He fell asleep at 6 pm on the couch and slept through us taking down the Christmas tree and vacuuming up the needles.
Two of us on antibiotics was not a good way to end our Christmas vacation.
